So, without further adieu, here is the interview with Nikki Landis.

Nikki Landis is an award winning author of over a dozen romance in the paranormal and fantasy genres. Her newest release, Refuge Road, is the Gold Medal winner of the 2017 IPPY award for Best Romance/Erotica. She grew up sneaking in and grabbing her mother’s romances, falling in love with the characters and stories. Now she enjoys reading romances as much as writing them. I had a chance to talk to her about writing paranormal, some Halloween memories, and what she is working on now.

Nikki Landis is the author of Refuge Road, the 2017 IPPY Award winning novel for Best Romance/Erotica.

1)   What is your favorite Halloween memory?

I love to dress up. As a child I couldn’t wait to trick or treat. I can’t say I have a favorite memory as I’m obsessed about decorating and dressing up. Every year I throw a party and get as creative as I can with the food and themes.

2)   Who was your favorite romance or paranormal author and how did they influence you?

I used to sneak my mother’s romance novels growing up. She read the historical romance authors whose “bodice rippers” paved the way for all romance authors today. My favorite of all time is Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. I also enjoyed Virginia Henley, Bertrice Small, Johanna Lindsey, and others. As a teen girl I was fascinated by the romance and heroic males in these stories. They have greatly influenced my opinion on romance.

3)   Do you have a writing routine?

Writing is a fine art, improved with practice. I spend time each day to write down words, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Sometimes I listen to music for inspiration with my headphones to block out the distraction of the real world. I can get lost in my characters and my stories easily.

4)   What paranormal creatures or subjects would you like to write about?

I’ve written about most paranormal and supernatural creatures but I have yet to write about Greek mythology. I’d love to start a new series on Greek myths.

5)   What is writing to you in one sentence?

Writing is the creative expression of words and feelings in a place where I can let my imagination run wild.

6)   What projects are you working on right now?

I have quite a few projects releasing soon. I’m currently writing book #3 in my Dark trilogy about vampires and a paranormal romance with a grim reaper and a dark caster.
